Onboarding & Payroll Coordinator:

Overview:

Under the general direction of the HR Manager, the Onboarding & Payroll Coordinator will support efforts to create a positive experience for our employees and internal partners involved with the hiring process. This role will assist in maximizing the effectiveness of onboarding procedures, policies and systems to ensure an impactful hew hire experience. In addition, the On-Boarding/Payroll Coordinator will assist the Payroll Supervisor in the effective and efficient preparation, documentation and disbursement of payroll for salaried and hourly staff in accordance with legislative requirements.

This position is based out of Nisku, Alberta.

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Onboarding of new employees
  • Responsible for quality control and timely processing of all hiring activities
  • Prepare and provide hiring kits to all new employees and ensure accurate and timely completion
  • Coordinate New Employee Orientations (NEO)
  • Create and maintain employee files
  • Resolve policy-related, process-related, or procedural problems and/or inquiries related to hiring.
  • Provide training and technical support to end users on all related systems and applications. (Sharepoint and Safety Sync)
  • Assist in group onboarding events for special projects
  • Ensure all pre-employment testing is scheduled, completed, evaluated and documented
  • Assist in processing by-weekly payroll
  • Compile and process payroll data such as vacation time, insurance, RRSP deductions, taxable benefits and other deductions
  • Process employee terminations and employee status changes
  • Assist with year-end reconciliations, balancing and processing including annual reports and T4 preparation
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal and Provincial Legislation within Canada
  • Organize and maintain payroll files, both manual and electronic
  • Assist with audit inquiries as required

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum 2 years onboarding experience
  • Minimum 2 years payroll experience
  • Working knowledge of provincial and federal laws regarding payroll and hiring
  • Formal payroll education as asset
  • Recruiting experience an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines
  • Positive personality
  • Can-do attitude
